Start 2027 with a skill that lasts a lifetime

Make swimming one of your child’s priorities this January

The New Year is the perfect time to start something new and there is no better skill to invest in than swimming. Whether your child is taking their very first steps in the water, building their confidence or working towards their next swimming milestone, January is the ideal time to start a consistent weekly programme. At Swim Generation, we believe swimming should be more than an activity. It is an essential life skill that builds confidence, independence, physical fitness and, most importantly, water safety.

January enrolment is now open, and places are limited. Secure your preferred day, time and location before our programmes fill.

“January gives families the opportunity to start the year with a positive routine and a skill that will benefit their child for the rest of their life. Consistency is key to swimming, and starting early in the year gives children the time and support they need to make real progress.” Tara Rahilly, Head of Operations

Why Start Swimming in January?

Start the year with a new routine

January is a natural time for families to establish new routines and make positive changes. Adding a weekly swimming lesson to your child’s timetable from the beginning of the year creates consistency and gives them something to work towards. Rather than waiting until summer, starting in January gives your child a full year to develop their swimming skills, confidence and water awareness.

Get ready for your summer holiday

For many families, the summer holidays mean travelling abroad, visiting family, spending time at the beach or enjoying days around the pool. These are exciting experiences, but they also mean children may have much greater access to water than they do at home. January is the time to start getting your child ready. Giving your child several months to develop their swimming ability and water confidence before the summer holidays means they can enter the holiday period better prepared and more confident around water. Don't wait until you have a holiday booked to think about swimming. The time to build these skills is now. Whether your summer plans involve a hotel pool, the sea, a holiday resort or days by the water, swimming lessons can give your child the confidence and practical skills they need to enjoy those experiences more safely.

Give your child the confidence to swim

Learning to swim is about much more than learning different strokes. As children progress through their lessons, they develop confidence, independence and trust in their own abilities. They learn to challenge themselves, overcome difficulties and celebrate their achievements. For children who may not enjoy traditional team sports, swimming provides an opportunity to develop physically and competitively while working towards their own individual goals.

Keep progressing, don't wait for summer

Swimming is a skill that needs to be developed and maintained. Waiting until the warmer months to start swimming can mean missing valuable months of learning and development. By starting in January, children can build their skills gradually and consistently, giving them the best opportunity to make meaningful progress throughout the year. For children already attending swimming lessons, January is also the perfect time to keep their momentum going and continue working towards their next level.

Invest in a life skill

Every child should have the opportunity to learn how to swim. Water safety is about much more than being able to swim lengths. It is about giving children the knowledge, awareness, confidence and practical skills they need to stay safe around water. These are skills that can stay with them for life.

Support their health and wellbeing

Swimming is a fantastic form of exercise and a great way for children to take a break from school, screens and everyday pressures. Regular swimming helps children stay active while providing a positive environment where they can focus, learn and build confidence.

Why Parents Choose Swim Generation

Warm, luxurious pools. Swim Generation pools are kept between 29-30 degrees. Its important that the pools are kept warm to ensure that swimmers are comfortable and happy in the water. Leisure centres are typically kept at 26 degrees.

With locations across London, Surrey and Somerset we have various venues that are available and accessible to families.

Small class sizes. We offer private and small class sizes which allow our coaches to dedicate their full attention to their swimmer and provide tailored instruction. With that dedicated support and care, our swimmers feel safe, comfortable and happy meaning they become confident quickly.

In-water training. Our coaches are in the water with their swimmers to provide that dedicated support. Being in the water with the swimmers means that swimmers can learn through demonstration and hands-on instruction. This approach sees quick results and happy, confident swimmers.

Highly experienced/qualified coaches. Our coaches are incredibly experienced and passionate. Swim Generation only take on coaches that share the same values and passion for learning. Swim Generation have an internal training programme that continues to develop and mentor coaches.

Structured lesson plans and feedback. Swim Generation run a 28-minute lesson with 2-minutes saved at the end to provide detailed feedback to parents. Allowing time for parents to ask questions or to explain the goals is incredibly important.

Supportive environment. Swim Generation allow parents to sit on poolside which means that the parents are fully engaged in the lesson and have a better understanding of our programme. Our swimmers also feel at ease knowing their parent is on poolside and in view of the lesson.

"My two year old daughter absolutely loves her swimming lessons with Sila at the Montrose House location. In just four lessons she has gained so much confidence and is already happy to go under the water which has been amazing to see at such a young age.

From the very first lesson she felt instantly reassured by Sila and was smiling and excited the entire time. Seeing her feel so confident in the water is truly incredible. She is always disappointed when the lesson ends and talks about her swimming lessons all the time at home. The experience is just as positive for parents as the environment is calm welcoming and reassuring making the whole lesson enjoyable to watch. I am also extremely impressed with the facilities and the cleanliness at Montrose House.

We cannot wait to see her continue to grow and go from strength to strength as she progresses with her swimming journey at Swim Generation."
