How swimming can help your child at school

2017/10/25

Parents are very aware of the life skills that swimming can provide however they often forget the day-to-day benefits of swimming. Here are some reasons why encouraging your child to take up swimming can help with the school routine:

Routine

Swimming lessons at Swim Generation take place on a weekly basis which means that your child gets into a regular routine for swimming but also taking instruction from the coach. Following a coach’s direction on a regular basis can help when at school and will also help when they adjust back to school after a holiday or half-term break.

Focus

When your child takes part in our swimming lessons it teaches them to concentrate and take instruction. The positive of this is that they will learn to be able to focus their attention better at school. We have so many distractions in our daily lives so helping children stay focused through physical activity is a great thing!

Social interaction

Our swimming lessons have a maximum of two or three children to one instructor. This enables the child to have one-on-one interaction with the coach but also interaction with the other child in the lesson. Swimming lessons are a great way for them to interact socially, communicate confidently and improve their teamwork skills.

Sleep

We can’t promise that exercise will put an end to bedtime tantrums and tears but research has shown that swimming on a regular basis can help children get to sleep more easily and more quickly and at the same time improve their quality of their sleep.
