Intro
Adam Peaty MBE has remarkably just broken his own 50m world record and now holds the 10 fastest times in history in 100m breaststroke.
However, did you know that Peaty didn’t quite take to the water like a fish when he was younger! The City of Derby and Loughborough swimmer was once so afraid of water his mum Caroline struggled to give him a bath.
The Story
“He didn’t like the water when he was younger,” said grandmother Mavis Williams. “He used to scream every time he got in the bath. And when his mum used to take him to the pool he used to scream there.
“Then one day Caroline’s friend took him and it paid off. And he’s been swimming ever since.”
Swimming Confidence
Can you imagine if Peaty’s mother gave up and didn’t persevere with him, he would never have been able to become a world champion and to continuously progress at the rate he is.
Being confident in and around the water is vitally important for any baby, child and adult.
