According to a recent report from the children’s society that UK children’s happiness with their lives continues to decline with many worrying about school, friends and how they look. Many children grow up sometimes feeling like they are not good enough and the challenges they face can lower their self-esteem and affect their daily lives including their school work. Extracurricular activities such as swimming lessons are a great way to focus children’s attention on their strengths, learn new skills and provide them with a sense of achievement.
Learning to swim can increase a child’s confidence by improving social skills, developing their interests and inspiring them to try new things. Swim England’s research has stated that seven to 16-year-olds who swim rated a higher feeling of life being worthwhile compared to those who don’t. Women and girls benefit the most – swimming more than doubles their self confidence.
Swimming can help grow your child’s confidence by:
The environment in which your child learns how to swim is paramount. Our years of experience highlight, that the more calm and quiet the environment the more attentive the child is. Our private venues have a calm and relaxing environment, ideal for children to learn how to swim as they don’t have the typical noisy distractions found at most public pools.

Focusing on their strengths
If your child loves to swim, then this can be a great activity for them to highlight their strengths. Throughout our swimming lessons, we ensure that they learn something new each week and they progress each week which in-turn highlights their strengths.
Providing enjoyment
Swimming lessons are a great way to develop your child’s passion without any pressure. It is also a life skill which will stay with your child for the rest of their days and may even save their life at some point.
Letting off steam!
Taking part in sport is a great way to blow off steam and relieve any pressures from school. Our swimming lessons have a maximum of two children to one instructor which can help your child make friends without feeling anxious. The smaller groups also ensure there is more focus on the individual, so progress is more apparent, in-turn building confidence.
Developing new skills
Swimming can build your child’s learning skills and the great thing is they might not even notice! Swimming can help develop coordination and motor control and concentration during the lesson teaches your child to focus on the instruction provided by the swimming coach.
Building social skills
Making new friends at a young age is much easier for some children, however for others, social situations can be feared. Swimming can really help with this because they happen on a weekly basis becoming part of your child’s routine. We also ensure consistency with the same coach so that the child can build a relationship with them. If your child feels relaxed in their swimming environment, they will have more confidence helping them in social situations and providing your child with the feeling of them belonging.
