I got into swimming at a young age when my parents enrolled me in lessons for safety reasons. I quickly developed a love for the water and found that swimming became a great source of exercise as I grew older.
I decided to become a swimming coach after my dad. I saw how much he enjoyed helping others improve their skills and I wanted to follow in his footsteps.
The turning point came when I started helping my younger cousins learn how to swim, and I discovered the fulfilment of teaching.
Seeing swimmers progress and achieve their goals inspired me to pursue coaching as a career.
I love seeing the development of swimmers over time, both in skill and confidence. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of their journey. Knowing that I am contributing to someone's safety and health through swimming gives me a deep sense of purpose.
Coaching allows me to keep learning and improving my own knowledge, which keeps the role exciting and challenging. Children should learn to swim because it is a vital life skill that can instil confidence in the water.
Beyond safety, swimming is a great way to exercise whilst also having fun, and don’t forget all the fun you can have at the beach too!
My teaching style is focused on building a relationship with the students so that they look forward to having fun and every lesson.
As well as this, I aim to focus on students really having a deep understanding on how to perform specific skills and why to then execute them well.
