Frequently Asked Questions

01

How do you assess which swimming level my child should start in?

Please have a look at our programme and levels. Please let us know what your child can do and what experience they have had. If they are moving from another swim school, please let us know what level they are currently in or finished on. We will place the swimmer in a class, dependent on your description. The coach will assess the swimmer during their first lesson. If we need to make changes to your class and booking, we will contact you and work with you to find a solution.

02

What are the different levels in the Swim Generation swim programme?

We have a ten stage programme starting from entry level right up to competitive swimming. We have a separate Parent and Baby programme. All levels can be found on our programme page

03

What skills are covered in the beginner levels of the swim programme?

The entry level is all about a swimmers confidence in the water. Once a swimmer is confident the coach will begin working on body position and floating. The next step is independent swimming. As our class sizes are small, we use minimal equipment and floatation devices. The coaches offer support from within the water.

04

What if my child is nervous or scared?

This is normal. Our instructors are experienced in all types of abilities and levels of water confidence. The job of the instructor is to make the swimmer feel comfortable and happy in the water. The coach will be able to work with you and offer advice on what to do outside of lessons and how to make the swimmer feel more confident. Usually with the nervous swimmers, the instructor will use game-based instruction to build up the swimmers confidence.

05

How long are the swim programme lessons?

All lessons are 28-minutes. There is an additional 2-minutes at the end to provide feedback.

06

Can the swim programme accommodate children with special needs?

Yes, absolutely. Everyone on our team is experienced and able to teach swimmers with additional needs. If you have any special requests or information that needs to be shared with the coach, please include this on your registration form.

07

What is the class size?

We offer 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 classes. For our Squad classes, these have a maximum of 8 swimmers.

08

Do you teach all four strokes: Front Crawl, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly?

Yes. All four strokes are part of our 10-stage programme

09

Are the lessons suitable for children who want to join a school swim team or a competitive club?

Yes. We partner with many of our local swim clubs and schools to prepare swimmers for competitive swimming. We have taught hundreds of swimmers that have started from babies that now swim in local swim clubs.

10

How often will my child be assessed for movement to the next level?

Swimmers are continuously assessed. As soon as they are ready to move up to the next level, our team will be in touch and discuss changing your booking to accommodate your child’s new level. We will never hold a swimmer back or keep them in an incorrect level.
